Anti-aging is preventive medicine
Anti-aging medicine is often seen only as a lifestyle medicine, which is used as a miracle weapon against wrinkles and which is supposed to ensure eternal youth through hormone cocktails. But first and foremost, anti-aging means keeping the body healthy and thus slowing down aging, wear and tear and degradation processes.
Health care is very important
Typical signs of age are diverse and can appear from mid-30s: gray hair, wrinkles and cellulite are annoying, but still the most harmless. In addition, immune deficiencies, depression, libido and potency disorders or diseases such as osteoarthritis, diabetes or memory disorders can occur. Here anti-aging medicine - applied in good time - can on the one hand prevent many diseases as preventive medicine, contribute to health care, but also alleviate or treat existing diseases.
Since in our civilized society, diseases that arise primarily due to civilization and age limit the quality of life and life expectancy, it can be seen as a decisive objective of anti-aging to influence the development and course of these civilization-related and age-dependent diseases. Aging healthily and with well-being is an ancient human wish. To get a little closer to this desire, an oxidative balance is required in the body. Antioxidants can help promote this balance. They intercept cell-damaging free radicals and render them harmless. In addition to a large number of vitamins and minerals, which are known for their antioxidant effects, Good Aging contains extracts from plants, some of which were already used in early medicine worldwide.
Free radicals attack cells
Free radicals are at the beginning of many health problems. They attack our cells and can render them inoperable. The more cells in an organ are damaged in this way, the worse the organ in question is. Illnesses occur. The cell damage caused by free radicals can also lead to cell degeneration. Cancer is the result. Antioxidants can protect cells from free radicals.
Free radicals are oxygen-containing molecules that are dangerously unstable because they lack an electron in their chemical structure. They are incomplete. So they are looking for a suitable electron to become complete again.
In this search for a suitable attachment partner, free radicals proceed very ruthlessly and, above all, very quickly. When a free radical is created, it takes a record 10-11 seconds for it to attack any victim.
It aggressively tears the electron it needs from the nearest intact molecule (e.g. molecules of the cell membrane, proteins or DNA). This electron robbery is called oxidation. Since oxidations - as soon as they exceed the tolerable level - put a strain on the body, one speaks of oxidative stress.
Free radicals and their consequences for the organism
The stolen molecule is now missing an electron. So it becomes a free radical itself and goes in search of a victim from whom it could steal an electron. In this way a dangerous chain reaction is set in motion. High concentrations of free radicals can therefore trigger countless chain reactions, which can ultimately lead to a high level of oxidative stress and thus to the following massive damage in the body:
- Impaired cell functions or cell death due to membrane damage
- DNA damage resulting in uncontrolled cell division (development of cancer)
- Inactivation of enzymes
- Reduced production of endogenous proteins
- Destruction of receptors on the cell surface: Receptors are specific proteins on the cell surface, into which - according to the lock and key principle - suitable hormones, enzymes or other substances can dock.
This docking sends a specific signal to the cell. For example, cells have receptors for the hormone insulin. When insulin binds to these receptors, the cell receives the signal to take up glucose.
The key and lock principle is like a kind of code that is supposed to ensure that only certain substances can bind to the corresponding receptor and that only "authorized" substances are transported into the cells.
Substances (e.g. toxins) that do not have a "key" are denied access to the cells. Free radicals can destroy receptors and thus prevent the transmission of signals. For example, if the receptors for insulin are destroyed, the cell in question does not receive any glucose, i.e. no more fuel, and dies.
Jiaogulan the "herb of immortality"
The plant has a (adaptogen = balancing effect) and adapts to the needs of the respective person. What is too much is dampened and what is too little is stimulated. Therefore it has no side effects and is always balanced.
The balancing effect comes mainly from the saponins. Among other things, saponins are involved in hormone synthesis. About 20 saponins are found in ginseng and over 100 in jiaogulan.
- - Balancing blood pressure: As a true adaptogen, Jiaogulan also acts on blood pressure, lowering too high and raising too low.
- - Strengthening the heart: It improves the pumping capacity of the heart. This is especially important for athletes as it increases endurance.
- - Preventive for arteriosclerosis and stroke: the herb improves blood flow as it prevents the blood platelets from clumping together. So it also protects well against strokes and heart attacks and works against thrombosis.
- - Haematopoietic: Jiaogulan helps with the formation of white blood cells and is therefore a good means of convalescence after chemotherapy.
- - Immune-strengthening: It stimulates the activities of the lymphocytes, which are responsible for the immune system.
- - Cancer-inhibiting: The ginsenoside Rh2 found in Jiaogulan is a particularly tumor-inhibiting glycoside. The concentration of glycoside in this wonder herb is much higher than in ginseng.
- - Cholesterol lowering: Jiaogulan lowers the LDL (“bad” cholesterol) level and the triglycerides. It also helps to lose weight if you are overweight.
- - Diabetes: The herb also improves blood lipid levels and lowers blood sugar levels, which is also helpful if you are overweight.
- - Metabolism-stimulating: Jiaogulan is generally good for the metabolism by improving the blood circulation and blood count as well as other health-promoting effects.
- - Antioxidant: Jiaogulan stimulates the production of the body's own enzyme superoxide dismutase. This is a very effective antioxidant and protects our body against free radicals and thus against premature aging and cancer-causing factors.
- - Stress relief: The balancing saponins also help the nervous system. They have a calming effect on over-excited and stimulating on tired minds. Overall, the stress tolerance is increased.
Alpha-lipoic acid - the all-rounder of cells
Energy production and protective function as an antioxidant Alpha lipoic acid has two main functions in the body. Alpha-lipoic acid is present in the mitochondria of every single cell in the body and as a coenzyme of enzyme complexes, including the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex and the alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase complex, is essential for cellular energy production.
Alpha lipoic acid is also a particularly effective and versatile antioxidant. Important advantages of alpha lipoic acid: it easily crosses the blood-brain barrier and thus also protects the brain; it penetrates intra- and extracellular water-soluble and fat-soluble structures (cell membranes, cytosol, blood serum, lipoproteins) and is easily converted into dihydrolipoic acid, an even stronger radical scavenger and an even more effective antioxidant. Alpha-lipoic acid and dihydrolipoic acid render free radicals of various kinds harmless (superoxide radicals, hydroxyl radicals, hypochlorite anions, peroxyl radicals, singlet oxygen) and form chelates with (heavy) metals such as e.g. B. cadmium, iron, copper and mercury.
In addition, they bring already oxidized (water and fat-soluble) antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, glutathione and coenzyme Q10 back to their original active form: this is the reason why alpha-lipoic acid is also known as the antioxidant of antioxidants -3,9) Alpha-lipoic acid also increases the intracellular content of vitamin C, glutathione, coenzyme Q10 and antioxidant enzymes such as catalase and glutathione reductase.
Areas of application for alpha lipoic acid
The preventive and therapeutic effects of alpha lipoic acid are mainly due to its antioxidant activity. Alpha-lipoic acid has anti-inflammatory, anti-mutagenic, anti-carcinogenic and neuroprotective effects, increases insulin sensitivity and delays (cell) aging.

Astragalus for health promotion and rejuvenation
The herbaceous plant astragalus has been known in Asia for thousands of years and is one of the most important medicinal plants in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The astragalus root is a subspecies of the tragacanth root with the botanical name Astragalus membranaceus or Astragalus mongholicus.
The root originally comes from Mongolia and northern China, where it is also known as "Huang Qi" (in German "Star Milk") due to its yellowish color.
In their home countries the astragalus root is considered an effective tonic that can improve life energy (Qi or Prana).
In addition, the plant is said to have a harmonizing effect on the human hormonal balance, strengthen the liver and kidneys, support the immune system and is traditionally used in TCM as a remedy for diabetes. Recent research suggests that the ingredients in astragalus can have a rejuvenating effect on our cells, which is why it is now also treated as an effective natural anti-aging agent, which is said to have life-extending properties. Its ingredients include polysaccharides, flavonoids and saponins, which have a positive effect on health, performance and longevity.
Current research has shown their ability to activate telomerase and thereby extend the life of the body's cells. The telomeres, made up of amino acids, form a protective shell at the end of our chromosomes. With each cell division, they become a little smaller and ultimately lose the ability to divide with age. The enzyme telomerase has the ability to lengthen the telomeres again. By stimulating telomerase, astragalus can extend the life of the cells.
