Hair grows from the scalp, which means most of what determines hair quality happens below the surface rather than along the strand. Shedding is not always loss

Losing 50 to 100 hairs a day is normal — each follicle cycles through growth, transition and rest independently, and shedding is the end of a rest phase, not damage. Telogen effluvium, the diffuse shedding that follows illness, surgery, significant stress or childbirth, typically appears two to three months after the trigger and recovers over the following months. These situations look alarming but often need patience rather than product.

Where treatments do help

Topical scalp preparations aim to support the follicular environment — circulation at the root, the condition of the scalp itself, and the supply of amino acids and micronutrients hair is built from. Ampoule courses are formulated for consistent application over weeks, because the hair cycle is measured in months and no topical product acts faster than the cycle allows. A shampoo formulated for thinning hair works mainly by not adding to the problem: gentle surfactants, no heavy conditioning agents weighing down fine hair, and scalp-supporting actives left in contact long enough to matter.

Using an ampoule course properly

Apply to a clean, towel-dried scalp — not to hair — parting in sections so the product reaches skin. Massage in and leave; do not rinse. Consistency is the whole game: an ampoule course used four times a week for three months does more than daily use abandoned after three weeks. Expect to judge results at three to four months, since anything new has to grow out to be visible.

When to see a doctor

Cosmetic hair care supports the scalp and the appearance of hair. It does not treat medical hair loss. Sudden or patchy loss, a visibly receding or widening pattern, loss accompanied by scalp pain, scaling or redness, or shedding that continues for more than six months should be assessed by a doctor or dermatologist — several causes are treatable when caught early and much harder later, and thyroid function or iron status are worth testing before assuming the cause is cosmetic.
